Irrigation is a system designed in such a way as to meet agricultural needs in terms of irrigation. Irrigation is made to ensure that each plant gets the water it needs so they can grow properly. To irrigate is to water crops by bringing in water from pipes, canals, sprinklers, or other man-made means, rather than relying on rainfall alone.
There are several types of irrigation systems, each with unique methods for delivering water to crops. There are many different devices you can use for watering – from watering cans to hose end sprayers, sprinklers, soaker hoses, and drip lines. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses. There are several types of irrigation systems, each with unique methods for delivering water to crops. The following three irrigation systems are considered the best and most suitable in Asia :
Drip Irrigation is known as Drop by Drop irrigation or underground irrigation. The water which is distributed to the plants drop by drop to the active root zone of the plants is known as Drip Irrigation System. Drip irrigation applies the water slowly at the plant root zone where it is needed most.
Surface irrigation is where water is applied and distributed over the soil surface by gravity. Surface irrigation is mainly divided in basin, border, and furrow systems. It is widely utilized and therefore a well-known system, which can be operated without any high-tech applications.
Sprinkler irrigation is a method of applying irrigation water which is similar to natural rainfall. Water is distributed through a system of pipes usually by pumping. It is then sprayed into the air through sprinklers so that it breaks up into small water drops which fall to the ground.
